According to PwC Global survey, 2016 regarding Industry 4.0 among SMEs, respondents report their biggest implementation challenge isn’t choosing the right technology; it’s the lack of digital culture and skills in their organisation.
The project iNduce 4.0, funded under the Erasmus+ programme, key action Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices, field Strategic Partnerships for vocational education and training, is primarily concerned with this topic.
With our newsletter we would like to inform you regularly about the progress and the continuance of the project. “iNduce 4.0 – Work-based training approach in the field of Industry 4.0 for competitive European Industry” started in October 2017.
According to the New Skills Agenda for Europe “Work in industry at all levels from operators to engineers and administrative staff will increasingly consist of designing, maintaining and supervising intelligent machines that assist in the performance of tasks. This will require different skill sets. Future jobs will require an appropriate mix of basic, soft and technical skills, notably the digital and business-specific skills that education and training systems are not yet fully addressing. Industry has an active role to play in the definition and training of the key skill sets and competences.”
For this purpose we set the goal to develop a flexible learning package for work-based learning aimed at providing fundamental technical knowledge on the topic of Industry 4.0 as well as a comprehensive tool equipping with a step by step mentoring plan and guidelines.
What happened till now?
In October 2017 the first project meeting with all European partners took place in Warsaw, Poland. Schedule, goals and further procedures were discussed. The project group started to conduct the state-of-the-art analysis on the knowledge & skills gaps on the topic of Industry 4.0 and the requirements for WBL.
After the end of the analysis in January 2018 partners will work to produce a report. The next meeting will take place in April 2018 in Larnaca, Cyprus, where a first concept for the innovative INDUCE 4.0 flexible learning package for work-based learning will be developed, based on the results of the analysis.
